An old-fashioned Parade, Celebration, and hometown Rodeo during White Bird Days on Father’s Day weekend in mid-June is always wildly popular. Other fun, family events range from a Sausage Feed in March, to Art Shows & Sales, Chili Cook-Offs, and more. Community events and festivals occur frequently in White Bird, Idaho and in addition to the annual Festival & Parade in mid June, range from trap shoots, to Easter Egg Hunts, bike rides, a Halloween youth party, the Rebekah Turkey Dinner, and Christmas programs….there’s a lot going on in this small town in north central Idaho.

Salmon River Art Guild – Fall Art Show & Sale – October 6th and 7th

This great show is on Saturday, October 6th, from 9-5 PM (MDT) and on Sunday, October 7th, from 9-3 PM (MDT).  The event judge for the show is Aaron C. Johnson of Moscow, ID.  Aaron is an instructor of art at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston and the University of Idaho in Moscow.   More information is available by calling Kathryn, 208.839.2808, or Joyce, 208.628.3765.  Prize money of over $1000 will be awarded in the following categories: Oil/Acrylic, Watercolor/Water Media, Other (pastels, drawing, mixed media, etc.), Sculpture, and Photography.

Wood Cutting

Join the American Legion Post 152 and White Bird Medical & Relief for a wood cutting “party” on October 6th.   Last year 80 volunteers split and delivered 15 cords of wood to those who needed winter wood and couldn’t get it for themselves.  Contact Walt, 208.839.2457,  if you want more information or want to volunteer for this worthy project.



Hells Canyon 52nd Annual Gem Show

Gem Show at the Nez Perce County Fair Grounds.  October 20th (10-6) and October 21st (10-5).  Displays, demonstrations, dealers, kids’ corner, silent auction, door prizes every hour, grand prize Sunday; contact Mary Lou Northrup, (208) 743-6944.  Admission adults/$3; children under 12/free.

Fire Benefit Spaghetti Feed

The public is invited to attend a fire benefit spaghetti feed for Richard Messick who lost his home and belongings recently to a house fire.  Join others at the IOOF Hall on Saturday, October 20, from 12-3.



Annual Halloween Party – October 27th, IOOF Hall

Games, Prizes, Refreshments…The IOOF Hall is the place to be on Saturday, October 27th, 6-8 PM.  Dress up for the Costume Contest (by age groups).  Enjoy the popular Cake Walk, the Fish Pond, and other games.  Bring your pumpkins, carved or stenciled for the Pumpkin Contest.  Scarecrow contest.  Contact Darla Brumley, 208.839.2205, for information.  Or why not dress up and help with the proceedings?
