The BIGGEST Whitewater Adventure in Idaho this summer!?  Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 1, and make your destination “The Big Water Blowout River Festival” on the Salmon River in Riggins, Idaho.  The fun begins at 9 a.m. (that’s Mountain Time).  Discounted rafting trips by local outfitters, Dutch Oven cooking contest, and more…click here for details.

“Just of the Hill of It Bike” Challenge

A benefit for the Syringa (Hospital) Hospice.  Race begins at 9 a.m. at Hammer Creek.  Why is it called Bike Challenge?  It’s a 13 mile course starting on a gravel road at Hammer Creek at an elevation of 1600 feet.  It then transitions to pavement through the town of White Bird and then climbs up the Old White Bird Grade to the summit at 3800 feet!  You will enjoy breathtaking views while on your ride.  For detailed information, registration forms, etc., visit here.

National Oldtime Fiddler’s Contest and Festival in nearby Weiser, Idaho

Just a short drive away to enjoy wonderful fiddle music.  The contest/festival begins on June 12 and continues until June 22.  Featuring a parade, , music workshops, fiddle contest, carnival, banjo contest, exhibitors, food booths, and much more.  Top fiddlers compete for national titles in a week‑long contest and festival.  You can find a little more information here.

Announcing the 30th Annual White Bird Rodeo!!!

Friday at 6:30, Saturday at 5Enjoy steer riding, the stick horse race with Smokey the Bear, mutton bustin’, and more!  Special, on Saturday only, Olson’s Miniature Bulls.  A small town rodeo for the whole family.  Details available at the Rodeo website.

White Bird Days Parade and Celebration – Saturday, June 15

This 2019, family event is organized by White Bird Medical & Relief Fund

  • This Year’s Theme:  “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
  • Cowboy Breakfast, IOOF Hall, 7-10 a.m.; Hotcakes, Ham & Eggs w/drink; support the Rodeo
  • Horse Pucky ticket sales, before the parade.
  • Parade at 11 a.m.; parade line-up begins at 10 a.m.
  • Parade entry form is available here.   This is a fillable form.  Enter your information, save it to your computer.  Then email it back to the email address provided as an attachment.  Contact Barbare Lowe, 208.839.2444, with any questions.)
  • New this year is a car/bike show and shine to take place across from City Hall.  Register at 10:30 a.m. or after the parade.  Event goes from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
  • New this year, pony rides.
  • New this year, the Old Time Fiddlers.

  • Rodeo Queen Kaylee Page; Queen’s Luncheon, IOOF Hall following the parade (Kaylee’s bio).
  • “Pie Social” sponsored by the White Bird Library Volunteers at the Park.  Buy a pie and support the Library!
  • Duck Derby at the Library; many great prizes, including the top prize of $200!  Buy your tickets at the Library or on Saturday morning.  Drawing for winners is right after the end of the parade.
  • Annual Salmon River Art Guild Art Show & Sale, IOOF Hall, 8-3.
  • Live music with the “Bed Spins” downtown on Friday evening and Saturday night, beginning around 8 p.m., following the rodeo.
  • Many street vendors.
  • Fire Department Egg Toss, in the street after the parade.
  • Kids’ Games at the recreation park (old school), following the parade.  Whether your a kid, or a kid at heart, you will enjoy these games guaranteed to entertain the entire family.  So, come on down for some good, old-fashioned fun!!!
  • Volunteers are needed for set up on Friday morning and take down on Sunday.

American Legion Riders Legacy Ride and Third Annual Crawdad Boil, Downtown White Bird

Tour of North Central Idaho leaves White Bird at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 28.

Saturday, June 29,  is the Louisiana style Crawdad Boil.  All you can eat until it’s gone.  Presale tickets are available by calling Walt Lindsey,  208.404.8571 or 208.839.2457, or the the Idaho County Vet Center, 208.983.9387.   Don’t miss this growing event!  Begins at 4 p.m. (PDT).
