An old-fashioned Parade, Celebration, and hometown Rodeo during White Bird Days on Father’s Day weekend in mid-June is always wildly popular. Other fun, family events range from a Sausage Feed in March, to Art Shows & Sales, Chili Cook-Offs, and more. Community events and festivals occur frequently in White Bird, Idaho and in addition to the annual Festival & Parade in mid June, range from trap shoots, to Easter Egg Hunts, bike rides, a Halloween youth party, the Rebekah Turkey Dinner, and Christmas programs….there’s a lot going on in this small town in north central Idaho.

Christmas Decorating Contest – Light up the town!!!

This is a very popular event enjoyed by the community. It was a beautiful experience to ride around the area and see all the brightly lighted homes and businesses. So, this year, why not join in the fun? Decorate the exterior of your home or business. (Must be within zip code 83554). Prizes for the best decorations (first, second and third) to be awarded at the Lighted Parade on December 14. Judging will be the night of December 13. Have your lights on at 6 p.m.

23rd Annual Nez Perce Beadwork Bazaar, December 7

LAPWAI, ID — Looking for unique and special gifts for the holidays?  Nez Perce National Historical Park is holding its 22nd Annual Beadwork Bazaar. Local artists will be selling their crafts at the Spalding Visitor Center on Saturday December 7, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Beadwork Bazaar offers a wide variety of one-of-a kind artwork including beaded and other traditional jewelry.  The event is free to the public and artists will give demonstrations throughout the day.  Weavings, paintings and sculptures can all be bought from local Nez Perce artists. 34th Annual Holiday Gift & Food Fair in Grangeville

This is the big one! Crafts galore. A great time to find that perfect gift for someone. Over 70 tables. 6 big shopping hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Don’t forget to visit the Food Booth too. Lunch will be served all day.

Fun for everyone.  Kids, come meet Santa.  Enjoy the parade, see the lights, join friends/neighbors.

  • Craft Bazaar at the Recreation District, beginning at 1 p.m.; setup at noon.
  • Cookie Exchange at the Recreation District begins at 2 p.m. Bring your baked goods, exchange cookies. Prize given for “best” cookie recipe. Contact Brenda, 839.2303, for information on this event.
  • Kids’ games at the IOOF Hall, 3-5.
  • Parade lineup is at 5:30 p.m. at the top of the hill pullout.  Parade comes down the hill at 6 p.m.  Prizes awarded.

  • Chili/Cornbread, Hot Dogs and Hot Cocoa sponsored by White Bird Chamber.  Downtown White Bird by the bonfires.

  • Round out the evening with karaoke at the White Bird Bar & Grill and at the Silver Dollar.

Riggins Jet Boater’s Winter Ball, Saturday, December 14

Dress up for this special evening and enjoy delicious food, good music, and dancing.  This is a fund raiser for the Salmon River Jet Boat Race Fund.

It should be a wonderful evening of sharing and praying. Finger foods and fellowship following the service. Your children are invited to join in singing “Away in a Manger” and hanging ornaments on the tree.

Christmas Happenings at the Silver Dollar

On Christmas Day there will be finger foods all day, cards and games. Come on down and enjoy the festivities and camaraderie. There will be a gift exchange ($15-$25) if you wish to participate.

The Monastery of St. Gertrude will be host to the Idaho County Orchestra on Saturday, December 28, for a Christmas Concert, 2 p.m. Come enjoy a wonderful afternoon of music in a magnificent setting.

Happy New Year Clipart

Join Pleasant View Baptist Church for a New Year’s Eve Time of Fellowship, with a short devotional, games and food. This is on Tuesday, December 31, at 5 p.m. 

Hoot’s Café…Dinner is served from 5-8 p.m.  Dinner choices are New York Steak, Prime Rib and Baby Back Ribs, all with Salad Bar included.   Hootie says, “Happy New Year!”

Red’s Café will be open for business on New Year’s Eve but closed New Year’s Day. Special on December 31 (until 9 p.m.), combo pizza for $18 and an appetizer plate for $9.50 and homemade desserts.

White Bird Bar & Grill plans a costume contest with prizes on December 31. There will be special drinks and DJ music to ring in the New Year!

The Silver Dollar has Bonnie Olmstead playing the tunes for karaoke at its New Year’s Eve party.
