Winter Scene

An old-fashioned Parade, Celebration, and hometown Rodeo during White Bird Days on Father’s Day weekend in mid-June is always wildly popular. Other fun, family events range from a Sausage Feed in March, to Art Shows & Sales, Chili Cook-Offs, and more. Community events and festivals occur frequently in White Bird, Idaho and in addition to the annual Festival & Parade in mid June, range from trap shoots, to Easter Egg Hunts, bike rides, a Halloween youth party, the Rebekah Turkey Dinner, and Christmas programs….there’s a lot going on in this small town in north central Idaho.

Christmas Decorating Contest – Light up the town!!!

Last year this was a very popular event enjoyed by the community.  It was a beautiful experience to ride around the area and see all the brightly lighted homes and businesses.  So, this year, why not join in the fun?  Decorate the exterior of your home or business.  (Must be within zip code 83554).  Prizes for the best decorations to be awarded at the Lighted Parade on December 16th.

Judging date is the evening of December 15th.

Help Decorate White Bird, December 1st, Friday

“Deck the Town” for Christmas – Join others in “City Park” on Friday, December 1st at 3:00 PM to help decorate our town for the holidays (The Bridge, The Park, Businesses).   Volunteers needed!  Turn on the Lights.  Come join the Fun!

White Bird Area Recreation District (WBARD) Hunting Contests

 

 

The Big Buck Brag Time Contest: Prizes awarded for the BIGGEST rack and the NON-TYPICAL rack.  The entry fee is $5.  The racks will be measured and judged on December 2 (you must be present to win).

The First-Time Hunter Bragging Contest:   Entrants must be 10-12 years old (Hunter Education Age).  Judges will review photos of you with your deer or elk.  Prizes awarded for the uniqueness in bagging the animal and/or the biggest rack.  No entry fee for the “First-Time Hunters.”

Contest Winner Announced:  Congratulations to Payje Sickles, a first-time hunter, for her whitetail deer antlers.

Jet Boater’s Winter Ball (2nd annual)

In Riggins on Saturday, December 9th.  Dress up for this special evening and enjoy delicious food, good music, and dancing.  This is a fund raiser for the Salmon River Jet Boat Race Fund.

  • Hors d’oeuvres, Dinner and Dance.  $45/person.  Reservation Required.  Seating is limited.
  • No Host Cocktail Hour, 6 PM; Dinner at 7 PM.  Prime Rib and Seven Devil’s Shrimp.
  • Dance from 8:30 to midnight to the music of Joaquin, Verna, and Dave; dance is open to the public, $10 per person

Ring in the New Year (Sunday, December 31st) at Hoot’s Café

 

Dinner is served from 5-8 PM.  Dinner choices are New York Steak, Prime Rib, & Baby Back Ribs all with Salad Bar included.   Music will be provided by Joaquin & Verna and Dave starting at 8 PM.  Soft drinks, coffee, beer, and wine will be available at the back bar.  Hootie says, “Happy New Year!”
